GF91.60-P-4034RC Sidebag Sensor Component Description

Component Identification:

Location
The sidebag sensors are located on the corresponding crossmember in the area of the B-pillar.

Task
The sidebag sensors recognize a side impact early on.
The restraint systems control unit (N2/7) reads in the data from the sidebag sensors.

Function
- Permanent transmission of a digital "OK" signal after successful completion of the self-test
- Transmission of "Sensor defective" if self test fails four times in succession
- When requested by the restraint systems control unit, the identification (measuring range, sensitivity and production data) is transmitted
- Periodic transmission of acceleration values as 8-bit digital value

Measuring range and sensitivity are checked to see if they match the programmed equipment.

The production data can be output via STAR DIAGNOSIS.
