Component Identification:

Location
The rotary light switch is located at the left next to the steering wheel in the dashboard

Task
Various functions of the exterior lights (ABL) can be switched on by turning the rotary light switch. The particular position of the rotary light switch is read in by the driver-side SAM control unit (N10/10).

The following switch positions can be selected:
- Left parking lamp
- Right parking lamp
- Off
- Automatic driving lights on
- Standing lights
- Low beam

The left front fog lamp (E5/1) and right front fog lamp (E5/2) are switched on by turning the rotary light switch to the standing light or low beam position and then by pulling to the first catch.
By pulling to the second detent position, the left rear fog light (E3e5) or the right rear fog light (E4e5) is additionally switched on depending on the national version.

The switched-on function is fed back by the following indicator lamps:
- Front fog lamps indicator lamp
- Rear fog lamp indicator lamp
- Standing lamps indicator lamp
