Seat Belt Control Module: Description and Operation

GF91.60-P-4048RI Restraint Systems Control Unit, Component Description

Component Identification:

Location
The restraint systems control unit is located on the center tunnel in front of the selector lever.

Task
The restraint systems control unit has the following tasks:
^ Reading in of sensors and signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Actuation of components

Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in with the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN (CAN B)

Direct line
The following signals and sensors are read via a direct line:
- Left sidebag sensor (A53)
(not with code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" without code (494) USA version)
- Right sidebag sensor (A54) (not with code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" without code (494) USA version)
- Front passenger seat occupied and automatic child seat recognition (B48) (without code (494) USA version without code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series")
- Driver-side frontal acceleration sensor (B48/1)
- Passenger-side frontal acceleration sensor (B48/2)
- Left front seat belt buckle restraint systems switch (S68/3) (not with code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" without code (494) USA version)
- Right front seat belt buckle restraint systems switch (S68/4) (not with code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" without code (494) USA version)
- Left front seat belt buckle microswitch (S68/9) (with code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" without code (494) USA version)
- Right front seat belt buckle microswitch (S68/10) (with code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" without code (494) USA version)

Interior CAN
The following signal is read in over the interior CAN:
- Status of seat occupied recognition from Weight Sensing System (WSS) control unit (N110) (with code (494) USA version)

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.

Actuation of components
Components are actuated with the following lines:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The following components are actuated via a direct line:
- Driver ETR [GUS] squib (R12/1)
- Passenger ETR squib (R12/2)
- Passenger airbag squib 1 (R12/4)
- Passenger airbag squib 2 (R12/5)
- Driver airbag squib 1 (R12/13)
- Driver airbag squib 2 (R12/14)
- Left front sidebag squib (R12/20)
(not with code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" without code (494) USA version)
- Right front sidebag squib (R12/21)
(not with code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" without code (494) USA version)
- Driver kneebag squib (R12/25) (with code (494) USA version)
- Analog crash output to ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)
- Digital crash output to emergency call system control unit (N123/4) (with code (359) TELE AID emergency call system)

Interior CAN
The following components are actuated with the interior CAN:
- Automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp (E16) via the lower control panel control unit (N72)
- Airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) through the instrument cluster (A1)
