Component Identification:

Location
The electronic clock is located at the center of the instrument panel at the top.

Task
The electronic clock displays the time (24 hour military format) received by the instrument cluster (A1) via Local Interconnect Network (LIN).

Function
On vehicles with navigation (with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer or code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)), the instrument cluster receives the current time from the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) via interior CAN and forwards it via LIN to the electronic clock.

On vehicles without navigation (with code (528) COMAND with DVD changer), the time is set in the instrument cluster via the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) and transferred to the electronic clock via LIN.
