Location
The left door control unit is located on the door module of the left door behind the door panel.

Task
The left door control unit has the following tasks:

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in with the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The following sensors are read in via a direct line:
- Left front IR receiver (A26/1)
- Hall sensors in left front power window (M10/3)
- Mirror adjustment up/down potentiometer (M21/1r2) (with code (241) Memory switch for left electrically adjustment driver seat)
- Mirror adjustment in/out potentiometer (M21/1r3) (with code (241) Memory switch for left electrically adjustment driver seat)
- Remote trunk opening switch (S15) (without code (881) Remote trunk closing (RTC))
- Trunk lid open/close switch, driver (S15/3) (with code (881) Remote trunk closing (RTC))
- Driver-side power window switch group (S20/1)
- Left power window switch (S20/1s1)
- Right power window switch (S20/1s2)
- Left seat adjustment switch group (S91/2) (with code (241) Memory switch for left electrically adjustment driver seat)

The left seat adjustment switch group is read in by the left door control unit via a serial bi-directional single-wire interface (switching bus), transmitted to the interior CAN and read in by the left front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1).

Interior CAN
The signals from the following control points of the lower control panel control unit (N72) are read in via interior CAN:
- Outside mirror adjustment switch (N72s7)
- Left or right outside mirror adjustment selection switch (N72s8)
- Outside mirror fold-in/out switch (N72s19) (with code (500) Left/right folding outside mirror)

The left door control unit supplies the connected controls with power from circuit 58d.

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.

Components are actuated with the following lines:

- Left outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/5)
- Entrance and exit lamp in left door (E17/3)
- Left door inside handle illumination (E17/11)
- Left front power window motor
- Left electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/1)
- Automatic dimming mirror (M21/1h1) (for code (249) Automatically dimming inside rearview mirror and outside mirror (driver))
- Mirror adjustment up/down motor (M21/1m1)
- Mirror adjustment up/out motor (M21/1m2)
- Power folding mirror (M21/1m3) (with code (500) Left/right folding outside mirror)
- Mirror heater (M21/1r1)

Interior CAN
The following signals are transmitted via interior CAN:
- Actuations to adjust power window lifter (PW)
- Requests to adjust the right electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/2)
- Status of driver-side power window lifter (PW) to RVC control unit (N52)
- Request for seat adjustment to left front seat adjustmen control unit with memory
