GF80.61-P-3012RI Engine Start/Stop, Function
GF80.61-P-3012RI Engine Start/Stop, Function
- with CODE (889) Keyless Go
Function requirements, general
^ The transmitter key (A8/1) is located in the vehicle interior
^ Electronic selector lever module (N15/5) in position "P" or "N" (with code (494) USA version, engine stops only in position "P")
Engine start/stop, general
The engine start/stop function allows to start and stop the engine.
The engine start/stop function comprises the following subfunctions.
^ Function sequence for starting engine
^ Function sequence for stopping engine
^ Warning message function sequence
Additional function requirements for starting engine
^ Service brake applied
Actuation of the service brake is detected by the brake light switch (S9/1). On vehicles without code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" this signal is read in by the SBC control unit (A7/3n1) and transmitted to the ESP, PML and BAS control unit (N47-5) via the electric hydraulic brake CAN (CAN EHB) On vehicles with code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" the status of the brake light switch is directly read in by the ESP, PML and BAS control. From there the signal is read in by the EIS control unit (N73) and transmitted to the KEYLESS GO control unit (N69/5).
Parallel to this a direct signal is transmitted by the rear SAM control unit (N10/8) to the KEYLESS GO control unit
Function sequence for starting engine
The KEYLESS GO system (KG) is woken up by pressing the KEYLESS GO start/stop button (S2/3) which is read in by the KEYLESS GO control unit.
The transmitter key is woken up via the left door KEYLESS GO antenna (A2/38) and right door KEYLESS GO antenna (A2/40) and is requested to transmit its access authorization code.
This access authorization code is received by the rear KEYLESS- GO antenna (A97) and relayed to the EIS control unit via KEYLESS-GO control unit.
If the access authorization code is valid, circuit 15R and circuit 15 are switched on by the EIS control unit and the engine is started via the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10).
When the KEYLESS-GO start/stop button is pressed without actuating the service brake, circuit 15R is switched on first, and by actuating again, circuit 15.
When the start/stop button is actuated again, both terminals switch off. When the doors are closed c. 15C remains switched on for approx. t = 30 min.
The status of the doors is sensed by the left door contact switch (S17/3) and right door contact switch (S17/4) and is read in by the rear SAM control unit.
Function sequence for stopping engine
When the KEYLESS-GO start/stop button is pressed, the signal "Switch off engine" is transmitted to the EIS control unit via the KEYLESS-GO control unit
The engine is switched off by the EIS control unit via the ME-SFI control unit.
C. 15R remains activated for max. t = 30 min. until the driver door is opened. When the driver door is opened, the ignition is switched off completely.
Warning message function sequence
If no transmitter key is present when attempting to start, the instrument cluster (A1) indicates "Key not recognized" and c. 15R and c. 15 remain off.
If the electronic selector lever module control unit is not in the corresponding position when attempting to start, the instrument cluster indicates "Selector lever to P or N".
If, after starting the engine, the transmitter key can no longer be located in the interior compartment (system error or transmitter key not present), the instrument cluster outputs a warning message for approx. t = 5 s.
This is repeated every = 5 km. After driving s = 20 km a continuous warning message is output and an intermittent gong sounds.
The warning messages are output until the driver shuts off the engine.
After that, it is no longer possible to start the engine.
