Component Identification:

Location
The evaporator temperature sensor is located in the air flow downstream of the left evaporator in the air conditioning housing.

Task
The evaporator temperature sensor measures the temperature of the air flowing past the evaporator. To prevent the evaporator from icing up, the refrigerant compressor output (A9) is regulated accordingly. If the evaporator temperature drops to approx. T = 2 °C, the refrigerant compressor is switched off.

The evaporator temperature sensor is read in directly by the AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22) (with code (580) Comfort automatic air conditioning) or by the comfort AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22/7) (with code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning).
