AR54.10-P-0003R Disconnect/Connect Ground Cable at Battery
- except CODE (P99) "AMG Black Series" special model
Remove/Install
DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from hydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury to eyes and skin suffering caustic burns from battery electrolyte or from contact with damaged lead acid batteries.
- No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
CAUTION: Always disconnect the ground line (1) of the on-board electrical system battery (G1) and the starter battery (G1/4), it being absolutely essential to adhere to the sequence of disconnecting the batteries
1 Switch off all electrical consumers
2 Switch TELE AID to Service mode
- On vehicles with code (855) TELE AID
NOTE: As a result the auxiliary battery is not discharged and no emergency call signal is sent, see operator's manual.
3 Disconnect transmitter key from the electronic ignition switch (EIS)
4 Repeatedly press the start-stop button until the ignition is switched off. Remove Keyless Go cards from the vehicle and keep outside the range of the transmitter.
- On vehicles with code (889) Keyless go
5 Detach trunk partition
6 Remove trunk floor covering
7 Slacken nut and disconnect ground cable (1) from on-board electrical system battery (G1)
8 Slacken nut and disconnect ground cable (1) from the starter battery (G1/4)
9 Install in the reverse order
NOTE: All electrical consumers must be switched off.
10 Activating steering angle sensor
11 Calibrate power window
NOTE: With the doors and Vario roof closed, raise and lower all the windows completely by means of the power window switch. Keep the switch pressed for at least 1 second in the respective end position of the windows.
12 Normalizing seats
NOTE: Move the seats completely forwards and backwards with the seat adjustment switch. Keep the switch pressed for at least 1 second in the respective end position of the seats.
13 Set time of electronic clock
NOTE: See Operating instructions
14 Set time of stationary heater
- On vehicles with code (855) stationary heater
