Seat Belt Buckle: Description and Operation

GF91.60-P-4045RI Seat Belt Buckle Switch, Component Description

Component Identification:

With code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" without code (494) USA version the following switches are installed:
- Left front seat belt buckle microswitch (S68/9)
- Right front seat belt buckle microswitch (S68/10)

Location
The seat belt buckle switches are integrated in the respective seat belt buckle.

Task
The seat belt buckle switches monitor the insertion of the belt latch into the seat belt buckle. The seat belt buckle switches are read in directly by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7). The data is also used by the instrument cluster (A1) to generate a seat belt reminder warning (not with code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" without code (494) USA version).

If a belt latch is not inserted, the airbags on each side are deployed in the event of an impact with advanced ignition timing instead of the emergency tensioning retractors.

The data from the seat belt buckle switches is relayed by the left front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1) and the right front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/2) to the restraint systems control unit (not with code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series" without code (494) USA version).
