Location
The front passenger airbag unit is located beneath the instrument panel above the glove compartment.

Task
The front passenger is protected against injuries in the event of a frontal impact by the front passenger airbag unit. The front passenger airbag unit is designed with two stages, thus enabling a variable deployment.

Triggering is conducted by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) igniting the squibs.
