N91 ECI ignition system power pack

Location
The power pack is located on the center of the engine.

Task
The power pack generates the necessary ignition voltages for the ECI ignition system of about twice 180 V and the auxiliary voltages for ionic current measurement of about twice 23 V.

N91 ECI ignition system power pack

Function
The DC voltages generated by the DC voltage converter have a load-dependent duty cycle of about 10 to 90 %. The frequency is about 20 kHz for a voltage of 180 V and about 65 kHz for a voltage of 23 V.
The ECI ignition system power pack is equipped with an electronic overload protection for both voltages. In case of short circuit or overload, the voltage outputs are switched off. They are then blocked until the ignition is switched on again.

Assembly operations
To prevent damage, the ignition should not be switched on without a ground connection at the power pack. The ground connection is through the housing.
