GF77.30-P-2000RI Opening of Vario Roof, Function

GF77.30-P-2000RI Opening Of Vario Roof, Function
- except CODE (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series"
- refinement package
- as of model year 09

The illustrations show the individual stages when opening the Vario roof

Function requirements, general
^ Circuit 15 ON
^ No undervoltage or overvoltage
^ Trunk lid and lock pawl closed (CAN message from rear SAM control unit (N10/8))
^ Vehicle speed V ≤5 km/h
^ Trunk partition closed (CAN message from pneumatic controller unit (A37))
^ Roll bar deployment not active
^ Actuation request from Vario roof switch (N72s16) until the
^ Vario roof is fully open (CAN message from lower control panel control unit (N72))

Remote trunk release is no longer possible until the Vario roof is fully open.

The rear window defroster remains disabled until the Vario roof is closed again.
When the roll bar switch (N72s17) and the Vario roof are actuated simultaneously, the roll bar adjustment is interrupted. The Vario roof switch must be reactivated to activate the Vario roof function.

Function sequence
Stage 0 (operating time approx. 1 sec)
- Release latches:
- Main valve (Y55/1y1)
- Open Vario roof solenoid valve (Y55/1y4) and
- Close Vario roof solenoid valve (Y55/1y3) are activated.

Stage 1 (operating time approx. 4 sec)
- Move front side windows to short stroke position.

During Vario roof operation, the side windows can be moved only to the short stroke position.

- Open rear side windows
- Left rear power window motor (M10/5) and
- Right rear power window motor (M10/6) are activated.

- Unlock tubular frame and Vario roof and open trunk lid
- Tubular frame and Vario roof latches solenoid valve (Y55/1y5) are activated.

Stage 2 and stage 3 (operating time approx. 4 sec)
- Rear shelf side flaps fold out
- Side flaps motor (M49/1) is activated.

- Open Vario roof
- Open Vario roof solenoid valve (Y55/1y4) is activated.

The two-piece rear shelf is positively controlled mechanically by the main bearing with the Vario roof sequence.

Stage 4 (operating time approx. 2 sec)
- Lower folded Vario roof into trunk (load assist).
- Lower load assist solenoid valve (Y55/1y6) is activated.

The hydraulic fluid is forced out of the hydraulic cylinder by the weight of the Vario roof.

Stage 5 (operating time approx. 3 sec)
- Close trunk lid and lock tubular frame and Vario roof
- Tubular frame and Vario roof latches solenoid valve (Y55/1y5) are activated.

Stage 6 (sequence occurs in parallel with locking in stage 5)
- Close front side windows
- CAN message to left door control unit (N69/1) or right door control unit (69/2)

Run-on time of hydraulic cylinders
The hydraulic cylinders in question remain activated for a short time even after reaching the individual limit switch positions in order to compensate for tolerances in the switching points of the limit switches.

Abort conditions
- If the Vario roof switch (N72s16) is released, the opening sequence is interrupted immediately at any time for safety reasons (stop function)
- Roll bar crash deployment active
- Overtemperature in RTC hydraulic unit (A7/5) (warning signal in instrument cluster)
