Central locking (CL), general
The CL locks and unlocks the vehicle doors, the trunk lid and the fuel filler flap.

The following controls are available:
- Transmitter key (A8/1)
- 'Unlock CL [ZV]' interior switch (S6/5s2)
- 'Lock CL [ZV]' interior switch and ATA function indicator (S6/5s3)
- Remote trunk opening switch (S15) (without code (881) Remote trunk closing (RTC))
- Trunk lid open/close switch, driver (S15/3) (with code (881) Remote trunk closing (RTC))
- Trunk lid external operation switch (S88/8)
- Trunk lid locking switch (S134) (with code (887) Valet Parking)
- Trunk lid emergency release switch (S88/10) (for code (494) USA version)

The CL comprises the following partial functions:

Function sequence for emergency opening in event of crash
In event of a crash the emergency opening function unlocks the vehicle doors after an accident.
After a waiting time of t = 8 to 11 s, the doors are unlocked. For this purpose the pneumatic controller unit with combined functions (A37) actuates the corresponding pneumatic actuators in the doors and in the trunk lid.

The emergency opening function in event of a crash has priority over all other CL functions. When the vehicle has been locked from the outside, the emergency opening function is not active.

Function sequence for trunk lid via trunk lid locking switch
The trunk lid function via the trunk lid locking switch is intended to lock objects in the trunk.
The trunk lid locking switch can be actuated with the emergency key in the transmitter key. It is no longer possible to open the trunk lid. The trunk lid locking switch is read in by the pneumatic controller unit with combined functions.
