^ Emergency call system authorized and operating properly
^ Defective telephone antenna (A2/22) or poor reception
General
Normally, the mobile phone signals or data of the following vehicle related services are transmitted and received by the communication module integrated in the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) via the frequency switchover control unit (N96), with code (389) Mobile phone preinstallation with universal interface, USA/ Canada, and the telephone antenna:
- Authorization (Provisioning)
- Emergency call (E-Call) manual or automatic, including police emergency call number "911"
- MB-Info call
- Breakdown assistance (Roadside Assistance)
- Vehicle tracking
- Vehicle remote door unlock
If the telephone antenna is defective, the communication module integrated in the emergency call system control module automatically transmits and receives data via the TELE AID backup antenna (A2/50).
Function sequence
The emergency call system control unit monitors the telephone antenna and the frequency switchover control unit (N96), with code (389) Mobile phone preinstallation with universal interface, USA/ Canada, via a direct line.
The emergency call system control unit recognizes a malfunction in the telephone antenna (e.g. defective due to rollover) or poor reception and then automatically transmits or receives the mobile phone signals or data for the specific vehicle-related service over a direct line and the TELE AID backup antenna.
