In the event of a service call (MB information calls or roadside assistance calls) any currently active telephone connections are interrupted. The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) sends an SMS to the nearest service center and at the same time always establishes a telephone connection to the service center.
Usually, the telephone connections are established via the telephone antenna (A2/49a1) (model 211.0) or the telephone antenna (A2/22) (model 211.2) (up to 30.6.06) or the telephone antenna (A2/49a1) (as of 1.7.06), which is located on the roof. If one of these antennas is defective, e.g. in the event of a rollover, 2 emergency antennas are available in the rear bumper of the vehicle, which primarily consist of the emergency call system antenna splitter (A2/25) and the 2 emergency call backup antennas (A2/50). The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) recognizes the antenna failure and then automatically actuates the emergency call backup antennas (A2/50).
