B70 Crankshaft Hall sensor
Location
The crankshaft Hall sensor is located at the engine at the rear left on the transmission flange.
Task
Via the incremental wheel, located at the starter ring gear, the crankshaft Hall sensor detects contactlessly the position of the crankshaft and transmits this value to the CDI control module (N3/9).

B70 Crankshaft Hall sensor
Function
The crankshaft Hall sensor is supplied with voltage by the CDI control unit. This causes a magnetic field to form in the crankshaft Hall sensor. The segment on the flywheel passes through this magnetic field and causes it to change. A voltage signal is generated in the crankshaft Hall sensor in the millivolt range.
The Hall IC integrated in the crankshaft Hall sensor converts this voltage signal into a square wave signal in order to send it to the CDI control unit.
