GF07.16-P-2006P CDI Fuel Supply, Function
GF07.16-P-2006P CDI Fuel Supply, Function
The fuel supply must provide an adequate quantity of fuel under all operating conditions and at a sufficient pressure.
The fuel supply is subdivided into the 2 circuits:
- Low pressure circuit
- High pressure circuit
The following components are involved in the fuel supply:
- Rail pressure sensor (B4/6)
- Fuel temperature sensor (B50)
- Fuel tank
- Fuel pump (M3)
- Fuel lines
- Fuel main filter
- Pressure regulator valve (Y74)
- Fuel injectors (Y76)
- Quantity control valve (Y94)
- High-pressure pump
- High pressure lines
- Left rail
- Right rail
Apart from for model 461 and 463, the driver is informed of the fill level in the fuel tank via the fuel level indicator sensor in the left tank half (B4/1), the fuel level sensor, right tank half (B4/2), the fuel reserve warning lamp (A1e4) and the fuel level and reserve indicator (A1p2).
Only for model 461 and 463, the driver is informed of the fill level in the fuel tank via the fuel level sensor (B4), the fuel reserve warning lamp and the fuel level indicator in instrument cluster (A1p2).
In model 211.022 with OM 642.920, in model 164 and in model 251 with code (494) USA version, the fuel main filter is fitted a fuel filter water level sensor (B76) water level detection in the main fuel filter.
Tank protection
The fuel temperature sensor measures the temperature of the fuel delivered to the high-pressure pump. If the fuel temperature is high the injection quantity and rail pressure are reduced. In this way the required feed quantity to the high pressure pump elements is reduced.
