Due to modified friction when the fuel injectors are opened and closed (Y76) (wear), a longer or shorter actuation results via the run time. Zero quantity calibration is carried out in overrun mode, when the lowest fuel quantity is injected. In this phase the deviating amount (drift) is detected by the CDI control unit (N3/9) (actual value). The specified value is stored in the CDI control unit
The corrected actuation period is calculated from the difference by the CDI control unit.
The CDI control unit analyzes information from the following sensors to do this:
^ O2 sensor upstream of the catalytic converter (G3/2), (except model 211.022/222 with code (498) Japan version) the drift is adjusted, the residual oxygen content in the exhaust reduces
^ O2 sensor downstream of the catalytic converter (G3/1), (model 211.022/222 with code (498) Japan version) the drift is adjusted, the residual oxygen content in the exhaust
^ Crankshaft Hall sensor (B70), if the drift is adjusted, the engine speed increases
