Component Identification:

The brake pad gage (1) is suitable for measuring the:
^ Thickness of outer brake pads with wheels fitted.

Measurement is only possible at the floating brake calipers.

4MATIC-vehicles: Measurement only possible at the rear axle.

^ Tire tread depth.

The symbols and arrows printed on identify which side of the brake pad gauge (1) should be used for the corresponding measurement.

Component Identification:

Information on measuring thickness of outer brake pads:
To avoid measurement errors, before starting each measurement the slide (2) must contact the driver (3).

The test mandrel (4) must be inserted in the check bore of the lining carrier (5) so that the test mandrel (4) contacts the brake disk.

Fit the brake pad gauge (1) to the lining carrier (5).

Remove brake pad-gauge (1) and read off measured value on the slide valve (2).
