The radio is located in the center console.

Task
The radio control panel has the following tasks:
^ Central control and display device for entertainment and communications systems integrated into vehicle
^ Reads in the controls and input signals
^ Evaluating input factors
^ Actuates output media

Central control and display device for entertainment and communications systems integrated into vehicle
The radio control panel provides the user with a structured and uniform interface.

Reads in the controls and input signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Controller Area Network (bus/CAN bus)
^ Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)

Direct input signals
- Circuit 30
- Circuit 31
- Telephone MUTE
- Left antenna amplifier module (A2/64)
- Right antenna amplifier module (A2/65)
- Bluetooth antenna (A2/91)
- Microphone SBS (B25/7)
- AUX input (accessible in glove box), except code 518 Media interface

The radio is a subscriber on the Controller Area Network bus, class B (interior) (CAN B). It communicates with the following components, for example:
- Instrument cluster (A1)
- EIS [EZS] control unit (N73)
- Steering column tube module (N80)

MOST
Control and audio signals from the following control units:
- Media interface control unit (N125/1) with code 518 Media interface
- Sound system amplifier (N40/3) with code 810 Sound system
- Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3), with code 537 Digital radio and code 833 Great Britain version

Evaluation of input factors
The input values are processed in the radio control panel.

Actuates output media
The following direct output signals are possible:
- Audio Out to the following speakers (except code 810 Sound system):
- Left front door speaker group (H4/1)
- Right front door speaker group (H4/2)
- Left rear door speaker group (H4/3)
- Right rear door speaker group (H4/4)
- Bass box speaker (H4/17)
- Wake-up for MOST
- Provision of structured and uniform interface for the following system components:
- Audio system (e.g. radio, Compact Disk (CD) (also MPEG-1 audio layer 3 (MP3)), AUX)
- Communication system (e.g. telephone with telephone book function)
- Sound settings (z. B bass, treble, fader, balance)
- System settings (e.g. brightness and contrast of display
- Evaluation of signals from interior CAN-B

Component Identification:






Function
The buttons on the radio are read in and made available to the integrated central computer. The button operations are processed further in the central computer and transferred to other system components as a messages via the MOST or CAN B. The radio is switched On or Off when the On/Off button on the radio is pressed. The volume is regulated by turning the volume setting button for each set audio source. The user can switch to the required system component by pressing the menu buttons.

CD-6-disk changer
The integrated CD changer can be used to play audio CDs (including in MP3 format).
