GF82.62-P-6003TM Sound System Amplifier, Component Description
- with CODE (810) Sound system
Component Identification:
Location
The sound system amplifier is located in the trunk behind the left wheel well.
Depending on the equipment installed one of the following control units will be installed, hereafter referred to as the "audio unit":
- Radio (A2), with code 510 Audio 20 with CD changer
- Radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56), with code 525 MB Audio 50 APS radio or with code 511 Audio 50 APS with DVD changer
- COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) with code 528 COMAND with DVD changer, code 527 COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation system) or code 512 COMAND APS with DVD changer
Task
^ Receive signals
^ Decoding signals
^ Support and amplification of signals
^ Transmitting signals
Receive signals
^ Direct lines
^ Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
Direct lines
- Power supply via circuit 31 and circuit 30g via one direct line each
- Electronic wake-up for MOST via discrete line
- Audio mute by telephone mute from external mute signal (e.g. telephone mute or emergency call system mute (with code 359 TELE AID emergency call system)) via direct line
MOST
The sound system amplifier is a subscriber of the MOST and receives the Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP) copy- protected audio signals from the following components, for example:
- "Audio equipment"
- Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3), with code 537 Digital radio and code 833 Great Britain version
- Media interface control unit (N125/1) with code 518 Media interface
- TV combination tuner (analog/digital) (A90/1), with code 863 Digital/analog TV tuner
Decoding signals
- Decoding DTCP copy-protected audio signals on basis of newest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology
DSP means that for the audio range, audio tracks are processed using mathematical algorithms with the objective of improving the acoustic sound characteristics.
Support and amplification of signals
- Support of 7.1 Surround technology
- Support of 2 stereo entertainment channels and 3 announcement channels (e.g. for voice output of navigation instructions, etc.)
- Amplification of decoded audio signals
Transmitting signals
- Output of signals (BEEPs), digital multiple channel output and output of decoded, volume-adapted and amplified audio signals to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker group (H4/1)
- Right front door speaker group (H4/2)
- Left rear door speaker group (H4/3)
- Right rear door speaker group (H4/4)
- Bass box speaker (H4/17)
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)
- Line Out for subwoofer amplifier (N40/9)
- Remote for subwoofer amplifier
Function
The sound system amplifier is controlled by the "Audio unit". The "Audio unit" provides all menus for user guidance. Moreover, the following subfunctions are available:
^ Diagnosis
^ Software download
Diagnosis on the sound system amplifier is accomplished using the Keyword-2000 protocol. All other control units in MOST are also diagnosed via this interface at the same time.
The sound system amplifier can be configured with the Common Vehicle Information (CVI).
Updating takes place via the drive of the "audio equipment" using a Compact Disk (CD) or a Digital Versatile Disk (DVD).
