Mobile subscribers in public telephone network If the mobile subscriber has logged into the D-net within the reception range of "his/her" mobile switching center (MSC) this is automatically indicated to "his/her" (home) mobile switching center (MSC) and registered there in his/her personal home location register (HLR).
If the mobile subscriber then enters a desired number, then it is transmitted to the mobile switching center (MSC). The transmission is accomplished by way of the most favorably located radio communication. It is automatically and continuously found by the system.

The mobile switching center (MSC) then relays the call to the public telephone network.
The transfer in the radio network takes the following course:
^ Mobile telephone
^ Base transceiver station (BTS)
^ Base station controller (BSC)
^ Mobile service switching center (MSC), public telephone network
^ Mobile switching center, public telephone network (PSTN)
^ Fixed network telephone
