Complaint:

When the vehicle is driven on rough road surfaces, a rattling/whirring noise can be heard from the drive of the COMAND (N40/3).

Note:
The complaint only occurs when there is no CD/DVD in the DVD changer of the COMAND (N40/3) (magazine empty).

Cause:

If no CD/DVD is inserted in the DVD changer, various moving parts of the DVD drive can resonate on rough roads.

This results in rattling noises from, the drive.

Remedy:

No not replace any equipment!

Immediate measure: The noise can be prevented by inserting at least one customer CD/DVD into the DVD changer. A software solution is currently being prepared in order to actuate the locking mechanism even when the CD/DVD changer is empty.
