GF82.15-P-0002R Headlamp Cleaning System (HCS), Function
GF82.15-P-0002R Headlamp Cleaning System (HCS), Function
- with CODE (600) Headlamp cleaning system
Function requirement:
^ Circuit 15 On
Manual actuation
^ The headlamp cleaning system (HCS) is switched on by pressing the HCS switch (S1s1).
^ The corresponding input of the driver SAM control unit (N10/10), which reads in the HCS [SRA] switch (S1s1), is switched here to ground.
^ The driver SAM control unit (N10/10) forwards the switch-on pulse as a message to the Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B).
^ The front passenger SAM control unit (N10/11) reads in this message and switches through circuit 15 via an electronic switch (transistor) for an operating time of approx. 1 s to the HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2).
^ The HCS pump (M5/2) builds up water pressure in the line.
^ The water pressure acts against the return springs in the telescopic nozzle.
^ Before the telescopic nozzles extend, spraying water on the headlamp lenses.
^ After the on period has elapsed, the pressure in the washer fluid line drops again and the nozzles move back into their initial position as a result of the spring force.
Pressing the HCS [SRA] switch (S1s1) again when a headlamp cleaning cycle is being performed has no effect.
A further headlamp cleaning cycle can only be activated after the previous one has ended.
Automatic actuation (in vehicles as of 1.6.04)
After 15 actuations of the windshield washer system, the HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2) is automatically activated. This automatic control is assumed by the front passenger SAM control unit (N10/11).
Function
Each time the window washer fluid pump (M5/1) is actuated, the internal counter in the front passenger SAM control unit (N10/11) is incremented up by one until it reaches the value of "15", whereupon the HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2) is actuated and the counter reset to "0".
The internal counter is always reset to "0" with circuit 15 Off.
