AR67.20-P-3000R Remove/Install Rear Window on Vario Roof

Remove

CAUTION: Do not loosen screws (13) on rear window mount (5), because the rear window hinges (5) are adjusted at the factory and cannot be positioned to the correct position without jig

DANGER:
- Injury hazard from pinching or crushing when working on partially opened Vario roof (stop mode) or in its closing area when Vario roof falls down suddenly
- Secure Vario roof with suitable special tool.

1 Move Vario roof to intermediate position with soft top switch and secure
2 Remove C-pillar paneling from Vario roof
3 Remove paneling from Vario roof rear section
4 Loosen screwed connections for cable mounts (2) on left and right rear window frame and remove electrical leads for rear window defroster from cable mounts (2)
5 Disconnect connector (3) from rear window defroster on left and right
6 Remove rear window antenna amplifier module (A2/12) from upper rear window frame
7 Press left and right rubber elements (4) out of rear window mounts (5) on left and right with suitable punch

NOTE: Observe installation position of electrical leads for rear window defroster.

8 Remove adjustment cam (7) together with locking pin (8)

NOTE: Mark installation position

9 Loosen grub screw (9) from rear window mounts (5) on left and right

NOTE: Grub screw (9) serves for retaining screw (10).

10 Unscrew screws (10) from rear window mounts on left and right (5)
11 Remove rear window (1) upward horizontally with second mechanic and lay down
12 Unclip paneling (11) from rear window defroster (1) from clips (12) with assembly wedge and remove from rear window defroster (1)

Install
13 Clip paneling (11) into rear window frame

NOTE: Replace damaged clips (12).

14 Horizontally position rear window (1) from top between left and right C-pillars in installation position
15 Screw screws (10) into rear window mount (5) on left and right and tighten
16 Tighten grub screws (9) on rear window mount (5) on left and right
17 Install adjustment cam (7) together with locking pin (8)
18 Press left and right rubber elements (4) into rear window mounts (5) with the aid of lubricant

NOTE: Replace retaining clip (6) with cable tape

19 Install rear window antenna amplifier module (A2/12) on upper rear window frame

NOTE: For this purpose route antenna cable (14) into wiring duct (15) and fasten in area of screw (16) with suitable body sealant (17)

20 Connect rear window defroster connector to window frame on left and right.
21 Install electrical leads for rear window defroster in lead holder (2) on rear window frame on left and right and tighten lead holder (2)
22 Check lock on C-pillar, adjust if necessary
23 Adjust rear window on Vario roof
24 Install paneling on rear window frame
25 Install C-pillar lining on Vario roof
26 Remove support for securing intermediate position of Vario roof and close Vario roof with soft top switch
27 Perform rain test on rear window (1) of Vario roof
