AR41.10-P-0086T Measure Propeller Shaft Alignment With Electronic Angle Meter
AR41.10-P-0086T Measure Propeller Shaft Alignment With Electronic Angle Meter
Measuring
CAUTION:
- The vehicle must be standing on its wheels for the measurement.
- The transmission suspension and exhaust system must not be stressed when measuring the articulation angle
- Eliminate the stress if necessary.
- Installation: Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
NOTE: ON Vehicles suffering from drive train vibrations or roughness during acceleration, the cause may be that the propeller shaft deviates from the specified value.
1.1 Detach engine compartment paneling below transmission
- Engine 112, 113, 271
1.2 Remove bottom section of noise encapsulation below transmission
- Engine 646, 647, 648
2 Prepare electronic propeller shaft articulation angle meter
3 Adjust propeller shaft articulation angle meter if necessary
NOTE: See device operating instructions for information about adjusting the meter. The articulation angle can be measured using two different meters.
4 Measure absolute angle at transmission
5 Measure absolute angle at front and rear propeller shafts
6 Measure absolute angle at rear axle housing
7 Retrieve front (Angle 1), center (Angle 2) and rear (Angle 3) articulation angles from memory of electronic propeller shaft articulation angle meter and correct if necessary
NOTE: Carry out a check measurement again each time the articulation angle is corrected
8 Correct front articulation angle (Angle 1) at transmission
NOTE: According to measurement result.
9 Correct center articulation angle (Angle 2) at propeller shaft intermediate bearing
NOTE: According to measurement result.
10 Correct rear articulation angle (Angle 3) at rear axle center assembly
NOTE: According to measurement result.
