Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview



AR32.22-P-1500-05T Check condition of air springs
- with CODE (489) Airmatic (semi-active air suspension)


Component Identification:





To ensure the satisfactory condition of the AIRmatic it is necessary to check the spring elements for damage prior to installation.

Rear axle (air spring removed):
The air spring must meet the following conditions:
^ The air spring must be straight.
^ The air spring must not be buckled or twisted.
^ The protective boot (4) must not be damaged (e.g. cracks).
^ The folds in the protective boot (4) must be formed correctly.
^ The clamps (5) of the connector hose (6) must not be opened and the connector hose (6) must not be removed.
^ The length of the air spring must not exceed the dimension (b) of approx. 300 mm from the center of the eye to the upper contact surface.

Air springs which are too long or have unrolled, on which the connector hose has been removed, are scrap and must not be installed in vehicles
