Vehicle Does Not Start, Fanfare Horn Not Functioning and/or Filler Cap Lock Not Functioning
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles with any of the below symptoms, this may be due to a nonfunctional relay in the driver side or rear SAM.
^ Vehicle does not start
^ Fanfare horn not functioning
^ Filler cap lock not functioning
^ Message in the instrument cluster display indicating BAS, ESP or ASR fault
^ Rear wiper inoperative (211 wagon only)
To resolve, replace the corresponding nonfunctional relay in the front or rear SAM:
^ Fuel Pump Relay (Figure 1, Slot A)
^ Backup Relay 1 (Figure 1, Slot D)
^ Fuel Filler Cap Relay 1 (Figure 1, Slot G)
^ Fuel Filler Cap Relay 2 (Figure 1, Slot H)
^ FanFare Horn Relay (Models 171, 209, 463: Figure 2, Slot I or Model 211: Slot I)
^ Circuit 87 Relay (Models 171, 209, 463: Figure 2, Slot K)
^ Starter Relay (Models 171, 209, 463: Figure 2 Slot S).
