GF91.60-P-1100TB Front Passenger Seat Occupied Recognition Sensor, Function

GF91.60-P-1100TB Front passenger seat occupied recognition sensor, function
- as of 19.2.04
- with CODE (494) USA version

Function
The seat occupied recognition of the front passenger seat is realized with the following components:
^ Left front WSS (Weight Sensing System) sensor (B48/11)
^ Right front WSS (Weight Sensing System) sensor (B48/12)
^ Left rear WSS (Weight Sensing System) sensor (B48/13)
^ Right rear WSS (Weight Sensing System) sensor (B48/14)
^ WSS (Weight Sensing System) control unit (N2/13)

The WSS sensors are arranged on the seat frame such that they can measure any weight applied to the seat. The measured value is used by the WSS control unit to calculate a weight class.

The weight class is sent over the Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B) to the restraint systems control unit (N2/7). Depending on the weight classification, a decision is made with regard to which corresponding restraint system is deployed in the event of an accident.

Optical status indication
The automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp (N72/1e1) in the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) is always switched on at circuit 15 On for a brief period (lamp check). If the front passenger seat is deemed to be not occupied, the airbag Off indicator lamp is switched on.
