GF82.95-P-3005TM Restraint System Control Unit Data, Function
- with CODE (359) TELE AID emergency call system
The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) receives the messages listed below via a direct digital crash signal from the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) and additionally (redundantly) via Control Area Network bus class D (diagnosis) (CAN-D) from the central gateway control unit (N93). The central gateway control unit receives the message from the restraint systems control unit via the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B):
Crash data on CAN-D
Byte no.1
Byte no. 2 (up to model year 09)
Byte no. 2 (as of model year 09)
A vehicle crash is automatically detected by the restraint systems control unit. On the one hand, the emergency call system control unit receives the crash data via a direct digital crash signal from the restraint systems control unit, on the other hand it also receives the data (redundant) via the CAN-B from the central gateway control unit. In the event of an accident, an emergency call is automatically sent out immediately. An emergency call is sent out regardless of the severity of the accident.
Error messages
The restraint systems control unit sends a signal every 500 ms. This indicates to the emergency call system control unit that the crash recognition feature is operating properly.
The restraint systems control unit performs a self-test cyclically. In normal operation, a system fault is indicated by the illumination of the red light-emitting diode (LED) in the SOS switch (S93/3s1). The corresponding error message (status message) appears in the display for the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) and in the multifunction display (A1p13) in the instrument cluster (A1). The red LED remains illuminated until circuit 15 is switched off or the fault has been rectified. The SOS switch is monitored. A jammed SOS switch is detected. The fault signal is ignored and the system remains operational.
