GF07.16-P-3021SX Component Description For the Temperature Sensor Upstream of the Turbocharger
GF07.16-P-3021SX Component Description For The Temperature Sensor Upstream Of The Turbocharger
- with CODE (494) USA version
Component Identification:
Location
The temperature sensor upstream of the turbocharger is located at the exhaust gas inlet of the turbocharger.
Task
The CDI control unit (N3/9) determines the exhaust gas temperature upstream of the turbocharger via the temperature sensor upstream of turbocharger. The determined exhaust gas temperature is used by the CDI control unit to protect the engine and turbocharger against thermal overloading.
For model 211.020 using OM 642.920 and code (494) USA version the CDI control unit also uses the determined exhaust gas temperature for temperature control of the NOx catalytic converter and diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration.
Design
The temperature sensor upstream of the turbocharger consists of a metal housing with a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) resistor and a 2-pin plug connection.
Function
The integral PTC resistor in temperature sensor upstream of turbocharger changes its electrical resistance according to the exhaust gas temperature. Electrical resistance increases as temperature increases.
