Remove/Install Rear Axle Brake Caliper
Shown On Rear Axle Model 230.475:
DANGER:
- Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Risk of injury, body parts may become jammed or crushed. Risk of injury, skin and eyes may be injured due to brake fluid spraying out at high pressure when working on the SBC brake system
- Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
1 Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
CAUTION: See notes on repairs to brake system
2 Remove rear wheels.
3 Remove brake hose (51)
4 Disconnect electrical connector of right rear brake pad contact sensor (S10/4)
CAUTION: See note on installing contact sensor for brake lining wear indicator
5 Detach electrical feed line of right rear brake pad contact sensor (S10/4) from floating brake caliper
NOTE: To do this, unscrew bolt (36).
6 Removing rear axle brake pads
7 Unscrew bolts (35) and take off floating caliper carrier
NOTE: Installation: Replace bolts (35).
8 Install in the reverse order
9 Bleed brake system.
10 Activate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
11 Use STAR DIAGNOSIS to move brake pads toward brake disks
