Center Console Ashtray Opens/Closes Sluggishly or Broken

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles that the center console ashtray opens/closes sluggishly or is broken, this may be due to the wooden cover not engaging correctly (Figure 1, 1) or the spring mechanism is unhooked (Figure 1, 2). To resolve, perform the below applicable remedy based on vehicle production date.

For vehicles up to production date 07/2006, with the ashtray removed from the vehicle, check for sluggish movement during opening / closing. If the ashtray does not move sluggishly, inspect adjacent panels for misalignment. If the ashtray moves sluggishly, replace ashtray.

For vehicles as of production date 07/2006, correctly engage wooden cover of ashtray and reinstall spring mechanism.

Note:
Do not replace wooden cover of ashtray for vehicles as of 07/2006 production date.
