Commercially Available Tools:
Manual data input (automatic data exchange not possible)
1 Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault code from telecommunications control unit. If the telecommunications control unit is defective, (see list "Troubleshooting Guide"), it must be replaced.
2 Order a new telecommunications control unit from MBUSA (Parts Center).
MBUSA (Parts Center) will deliver a new telecommunications control unit to the dealer.
3 Replace old telecommunications control unit with a new telecommunications control unit.
4 On the DAS system select the "Startup with manual settings input for new control unit (For example: The previous control unit can no longer be read)" menu.
After this select the "CTEL - Control unit Telecommunication for telematics services TELE-AID, Fixed installation cellular telephone, telephone adapter for portable CTEL" menu.
5 Vehicle and control unit-specific data
- VIN (Vehicle Ident. No.)
- Enter the MIN (Mobile Identification Number)
- ESN (Electronic Serial Number of Transceiver Unit),
as described in DTB # P-B-82.95/235 (www.startek.com) and note down.
6 Call ATX (tel. no.: 1-800-756-9018) and convey the noted data to the service team.
Remark that the vehicle and control unit-specific data were input manually and automatic data takeover was not used.
The service team at ATX requires vehicle and control unit-specific data:
- VIN (Vehicle Ident. No.)
- MIN (Mobile Identification Number)
- ESN (Electronic Serial Number of Transceiver Unit)
Based on this information, ATX commissions activation of the new telecommunications control unit at AT&T (activation can last up to 30 min.). Furthermore, ATX authorizes deactivation of the old telecommunications control unit at AT&T.
7 Perform test call for function check.
Upon demand by ATX.
