- with CODE (813) Voice control sytem (VCS)
Component Identification:
Function
After activating the system, the user has a number of options for establishing a desired connection by using the following commands for editing.
However, the user has to take into consideration whether the card is inserted, the PIN is entered, the network is available, and the telephone is ready.
Editing commands of the users with stored or not stored numbers:
^ Dial telephone number
^ Dial number
^ Dial name
^ Read telephone book
User final commands:
^ Dia
^ Store
After activation and the user having given the editing command, e.g., "dial number" or "dial telephone number", with code (813) voice control system (VCS) the user is asked by the voice output "please say the number" to enter a telephone number in the form of blocks or rows of numbers.
Entering blocks of numbers:
^ Block of numbers suitable for entering longer numbers (approx. 3 to 5 numbers per number block, in each case with a speaking pause of approx. 0.5 s between the number blocks)
Entering rows of numbers:
^ Number chains (up to 5 numbers, without speech pause), suitable for entering short numbers. With the individual vehicle models the number that is entered via voice command is displayed, if equipped either in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) or in the particular operating unit.
If an error occurs when entering the desired telephone number, e.g., improper recognition of a number by code (613) voice control system (VCS) or incorrect entry by the user, it is possible for the user to delete or correct the number.
If the number was entered without errors and recognized correctly by code (813) voice control system (VCS), on the final command "Dial" given by the user, code (813) voice control system (VCS) announces "The number is being dialed" and the connection is established. If the user would like to have the desired phone number permanently available after entering it successfully, then instead of the final command "Dial" the final command "Store" must be spoken. Next, the system asks him/her to specify the desired name with code (813) voice control system (VCS) by using the voice output "Please say the name". If the name is entered by the user, with code (813) voice control system (VCS) the system asks that the name is repeated in order to confirm the selection. Then the number and the associated name are stored in the telephone book, indicated by the spoken announcement "Name and number have been stored".
The entry stored in the telephone book can only be called up reliably by the user who stored it.
"Dialing a name" entry:
^ The editing command "dial name" can be used to request a name that is already stored in the telephone book. With code (813) voice control system (VCS) the user is asked to enter the desired name.
"Listening to the telephone book" entry:
^ With the editing command "listen to telephone book" it is possible to have the telephone book read aloud with code (813) voice control system (VCS), in order to then operate the VCS switch (S93/2) when the name appears. With this command it is therefore possible to "scroll" through the telephone book.
The editing command "listen to telephone book" is also used if there are difficulties with code (813) voice control system (VCS) recognizing a name that was entered by the user via voice input. If it is already in the telephone book, the name can then be selected and thus the connection established.
With the two dialing options listed here, the final command "Dial" is not needed.
After the name was repeated with code (813) voice control system (VCS) the voice output informs the user that the number is being dialed. The connection is established.
If, with the dialing options listed, the desired number is not available (e.g. the desired connection is busy), the user then has the option of redialing the number dialed last after terminating the dialing procedure and reactivating the system with the editing command "Redial"
During the particular dialing options it is always possible to abort the dialog with the system with code (813) voice control system (VCS).
Either by operating the VCS switch (S93/2) or via voice input "End" by the user.
Deleting or correcting number chains/blocks during number entry
If a fault ID occurred as a result of code (813) voice control system (VCS) or an incorrect user entry, then the number can be corrected in two different ways:
1. If the number was entered as a number chain (spoken together, no speaking pause), the number can only be changed using the editing commands below:
^ Deleting
^ Deleting a number
^ Deleting a telephone number
This means that all the numbers previously entered are deleted, the system informs the user of this via the spoken announcement "The number is deleted, please say it" and other numbers or commands are requested for the entry.
2. If the number has been stored as a series of number blocks (3 to 5 numbers per block, speech pause of 0.5 s between individual blocks), the number can be changed with the editing commands:
^ Correct
^ Correction
^ Correcting a telephone number/number
This means that the number block that was last entered is deleted, and the previously entered number blocks are repeated with code (813) voice control system (VCS). Next, with code (813) voice control system (VCS) the system asks the user by using the voice output "Continue" to enter further numbers or commands.
If more than 20 digits are entered with both types of number entries, with code (813) voice control system (VCS) the system announces without a speaking pause "The number is too long already".
Thus, the user is asked to enter the specified number as a sequence of number blocks. This then makes it possible to enter long telephone numbers as well. If the user would like to listen to the previously entered numbers once again to check them, this is possible with the command "Repeat".
The system with code (813) voice control system (VCS) then repeats all of the numbers entered up to that point and requests the use with voice output to "Continue" to enter additional numbers or a command. There is also the option of establishing international calls via code (813) voice control system (VCS). It is also possible to control announcement services or operate the mailbox.
The system with code (813) voice control system VCS has a help function in order to make the operation as easy as possible. If the user is involved in a dialog with the telephone and says the word "Help", with code (813) voice control system (VCS) the system reads the major telephone command.
If the user is involved in a dialog with the particular operating unit, then he/she can change the system by saying "Telephone help" and with code (813) voice control system (VCS) the system, once again, reads the major telephone commands.
