GF72.29-P-0003SC Power Windows (PW (EFH)), Function

GF72.29-P-0003SC Power Windows (PW [EFH]), Function
- up to model year 08

Component Identification:

The electrical power window system (PW) allows the following side window functions via the power window switched
^ Manual opening
^ Manual closing
^ Automatic opening
^ Automatic closing (front side window only)

The comfort functions are additional control possibilities allowing central opening or closing of the side windows from one control point.

^ Convenience closing/opening via:
- Recirculated air function
- Transmitter key (A8/1)
^ Convenience closing with:
- Keyless Go (KG) (with code (889) Keyless Go)

The convenience functions are described in the convenience feature (CF).

Function requirements
^ Circuit 15R ON (up to 5 min. after circuit 15R OFF, the power window can be actuated, if the front doors are not yet opened).
^ Child safety lock not activated (operation at rear).
^ Power window normalized (for automatic functions).

Manual opening or closing function
Actuate corresponding switch up to the first catch point and hold down.Actuate as long as the request is present.

Automatic opening and closing function
Actuate corresponding power window switch beyond the first catch point.Actuate until the position recognition feature recognizes that the window is completely opened or closed.

Driver switch group
All side windows and the child safety lock (for rear side windows) can be opened and closed via the driver switch group.
Actuation of one power window switch is read in by the left door control unit via front door LIN.The left door control unit transmits the information to the right door control unit or the rear control unit via the interior CAN.The left door control unit actuates the left front power window motor directly.
The right front power window motor is actuated directly by the right door control unit, the rear power window motors by the rear control unit.

Front passenger power window switch
Only the front passenger window can be opened or closed with the front passenger power window switch.
The request is read in by the right front door control unit, which actuates the right front power window motor directly.

Rear power window switch
Each rear window can be opened or closed only by the associated rear power window switch. The request is read in by the rear control unit which discretely actuates the associated rear power window motor.

Child safety lock function
Operation from the rear control points can be locked out with the child safety lock switch located in the driver switch group.Already performed actions are interrupted immediately by the rear power window switch when the child safety lock is activated. The current status of the child safety lock is indicated by an indicator lamp in the driver switch group.

Sequence of priority
The driver switch group has the master function. Any adjustment request by one of the other control points is terminated when the driver power switch group is actuated accordingly.Only a new adjustment request is performed.

Anti-pinch protection (front side window only)
The anti-pinch protection is realized via the excess force limiter. If pinching is recognized, the side window is opened approx. 125 mm.

Function requirements:
^ Power window normalized

The excess force limiter is only activated during automatic closing and when a window is opened approx. 3 mm to approx. 230 mm.

Function
When closing the windows, each of the power window motors is monitored by one of the two associated door control units. The excess force limiter is active at the first threshold value (low closing force).
If the first attempt to close the window is interrupted and a second attempt is made within 5 s, the excess force limiter is increased to the second threshold value (increased closing force) for closing the window.

Driver side only:
If then automatic closing is performed again within 5 to 10 s, it is accomplished without excess force limiter.

Short stroke actuation

Function requirement
^ Power window normalized

Function
When the driver or front passenger door is opened, the corresponding front and rear side windows are lowered up to the short stroke position to facilitate opening and closing the door. After closing the door, the side windows are closed.First the front side window is closed and then shortly thereafter the rear side window

Normalization
Normalization means teaching in the upper mechanical window stop (zero point) into the corresponding door control unit or rear control unit.
For this purpose, actuate the corresponding power window switch to close the side window completely and then continue to hold down the switch.

The corresponding door control unit or rear control unit then sets the position counter for the Hall signals to zero if it has recognized a lockup of the power window motors for approx. 0.3 s.

Denormalization
Denormalization occurs when:
^ a position counter status going beyond the stored zero point is reached during closing.
^ a position counter status larger than the maximum window travel is reached during opening.
^ a wrong running direction is recognized
^ a Hall sensor signal is erroneous
^ the supply voltage (circuit 30) of the corresponding door control unit or rear control unit is not present for longer than 60 s.

The cause for the normalization is stored in the corresponding door control unit or in the rear control unit.
