Hydraulic Power Steering System Leaking
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of fluid leaking from the power steering system, this may be due to a damaged low pressure power steering hose installed in the above range production vehicles. The leak might develop in the area of the connection between the low pressure power steering hose and the power steering oil cooler (Figure 1). To resolve the issue, replace the low and if required the high pressure power steering hoses with new ones as per parts information table. Refer to WIS document AR46.25-P-3015CX for installation procedure.
Note:
Refer to parts information table and check if the high pressure power steering hose as listed in the table is already installed in the vehicle. The new high pressure power steering hose should only be installed in the production as of VIN F199199. Otherwise, install both hoses as listed. Both, high and low pressure hoses must be installed together due to modified geometry at the control steering head. Failure to install both hose may result in a power steering oil leak at the power steering control head.
Note:
Refer to EPC for any additional parts required and current parts information.
