Fuel Gauge Reads Empty, Turn Signal Lamps Pulse Quicker, Central Locking Inoperative Using Key, No Communication with rear SAM

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles with all of the following symptoms, this may be due to the rear Signal Acquisition and Actuation Module (SAM) not transmitting on the interior CAN bus.

^ Fuel gauge reads empty when there is fuel in the tank

^ Central locking inoperative when using the key

^ Turn signals pulse at a quicker frequency

^ "Turn signals inoperative" displays in the instrument cluster multifunction display even though the turn signals are functioning

^ No communication with rear SAM when using the Star Diagnosis System (SDS)

To resolve, using SDS version 03/08 or later, reset the rear SAM by disconnecting circuit 30 and then update the software in the rear SAM following SDS menu path: Control units --> Body --> System "Rear SAM" with connected LIN components --> Rear SAM - Rear signal acquisition and actuation module --> actuation module --> Control unit adaptations Control module programming.
