Rattling Noises in Rear Caused by Seatbelt
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of rattling noises coming from the rear seatbelt, this may be caused by the sensor inside the seatbelt retractor. Follow the installation instructions below for additional soundproofing for the left and right rear seatbelts which will minimize the condition.
NOTE: Illustrations are of the right rear seat belt. The belt end fitting and C-pillar trim have been completely removed for better illustration. Complete removal is not necessary to install the soundproofing.
1. Detach the trim on left/right C-pillar. Refer to WIS document AR68.30-P-4490CW.
2. Cut the soundproofing for insertion of the belt strap (Figure 1).
3. Align soundproofing with inside of C-pillar trim (Figure 2).
4. Mark excess insulation material on C-pillar trim (Figure 3).
5. Remove excess insulation material from C-pillar trim (Figure 4).
6. Apply soundproofing to seat belt retractor (Figure 5).
7. Install C-pillar trim on left/right C-pillar. Refer to WIS document AR68.30-P-4490CW.
8. Check operation of the belt retractor. Belt must not rub against soundproofing when being retracted / rolled out.
