Seat Belt Control Module: Description and Operation

GF91.60-P-4068CW Supplemental Restraint System Control Unit, Component Description

Component Identification:

Location
The supplemental restraint system control unit is located on the center tunnel.

Task
The supplemental restraint system control unit is used to ensure passive occupant protection. If an accident occurs, the supplemental restraint system control unit triggers the deployment of the restraint equipment. This includes airbag units and the emergency tensioning retractor units. The supplemental restraint systems control unit ensures self-monitoring and fault monitoring. Head-on, rear-end, and side impact collisions are recorded, and a distinction is made between the different types of collision.

Scope of tasks
^ Accident detection and ignition time determination
^ Triggering the ignition stages
^ Triggering the NECK-PRO head restraints
^ Evaluation of the front passenger seat occupation status
^ Storing of non-volatile crash telegrams
^ Fault output via the diagnosis communication
^ Capacitor for the event of a battery disconnection if a collision occurs
^ Self-test and permanent monitoring of the supplemental restraint system (SRS) and fault display with non-volatile storage of faults and downtimes
^ System readiness indication via chassis CAN to the instrument cluster (A1)
^ Support of the automatic seat belt reminder warning via the chassis CAN
^ Output of the signal for transmission of an emergency call via chassis CAN (only (United States Of America) with code (359) TELE AID emergency call system)
