ESP Indicator Light Illuminates in the Instrument Cluster

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the ESP indicator light illuminating in the instrument cluster, this may be due to a malfunctioning Steering Column Module (SCM). The sensors might send communication signals at a different time which consequently could be interpreted as an error by the steering angle sensor. If this occurs, the steering angle sensor output switches to "invalid" status and the ESP indicator light illuminates. To resolve the issue, flash the Steering Column Module (SCM) with SDS DAS version 10/2008 (Add on 1010) or later.

NOTE:
- Fault code C220500 (There is an internal fault in the steering angle sensor) may be stored. Clear all fault codes. Some vehicles in the range specified above may have a steering column module (SCM) with different hardware and software level for which there is no newer flashware available. Only SCMs with control module software version A204 442 14 72 in vehicles within the above range should be flashed and brought to software level A204 442 16 72 when resolving stated above issue.
- The following allowable labor operations should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair. This information has been generated on November 11, 2008. Please refer to Netstar -> Star TekInfo -> Star Time for the most current labor time allowance.
