Squeaking Noise When Opening Trunk Lid





If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of squeaking noises when opening the trunk lid before it is fully opened or when closing the lid after being fully opened at cold temperatures, this may be due to the material composition of the trunk lid hinge brake. To remedy, open the trunk lid 75% of the way and apply a thin coat of special lubricant fluid (A000 989 36 60) to the edges of the hinge brake (Figure 1). This special lubricant is also included in the noise dampening service kit A000 580 03 50.
