The front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor consists of a sensor mat with the attendant electronic analysis system (2).
The following are located in the sensor mat:
^ Pressure sensing resistors (1)
^ Transmitting antenna for automatic child seat recognition (3)
^ Receiving antenna for automatic child seat recognition (4)

The film pressure sensors (1) are distributed across the entire seat surface. The left and right-hand halves of the sensor mat each have a transmitter antenna for child seat recognition (3) and a receiving antenna for child seat recognition (4) integrated onto the resistor structure.
