GF91.60-P-1100SK Front Passenger Seat Occupied Recognition Sensor, Function
GF91.60-P-1100SK Front passenger seat occupied recognition sensor, function
- except CODE (494) USA version
- up to Model Year 8
- up to 31.5.06
- with CODE (494) USA version
Function
Occupation of the front passenger seat is registered by the front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor (B48). A distinction is made between the following situations:
^ Seat NOT ASSIGNED
^ Seat occupied (not child seat)
^ Child seat detected
^ Position of child seat
Automatic child seat recognition functionality is only given when a DaimlerChrysler approved and coded child seat is used. This child seat must be equipped with 2 transponders (resonators), which are located at the left and right in its base.
The restraint systems control unit (N2/7) evaluates the assignment information and in the event of a crash blocks specific restraint devices.
Seat NOT ASSIGNED
If the front passenger seat belt buckle restraint systems switch (S68/4) detects that the latch has not been inserted into the seat belt buckle, then the restraint system equipment on the passenger side is switched off.
If the front passenger seat belt buckle restraint systems switch (S68/4) detects that the latch has been inserted into the seat belt buckle, then in the event of a severe frontal impact the front passenger belt force limiter unit is triggered, and, in the event of a side impact, the front passenger sidebag unit is triggered.
Seat occupied (not child seat)
The front passenger airbag unit is active.
Child seat detected
The front passenger airbag unit is switched off and additionally, the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp (N72/1e1) is switched on.
If the child seat is defective or incorrectly positioned (e.g. only one resonator detected) the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) switches on the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp (N72/1e1) over the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) and the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) over the instrument cluster (A1).
Conduct in the event of faults
If a defect occurs or if communication to the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) is disturbed (e.g. plug not connected), then the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) is also switched on. In addition, a fault is stored in the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) and a corresponding message displayed in the instrument cluster (A1).
