Partial load operation:
When the engine is at operating temperature, optimal exhaust emission values and low-cost fuel consumption are assured with the lambda control function.

Full load operation
The maximum engine torque is achieved when the throttle valve is fully open, the recirculated air flap is closed and switched on compressor. The injection time is extended appropriately by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit to do this.

About 10 to 90% slewing range is defined as partial load at the accelerator pedal sensor and more than about 90% slewing range as full load.

The relevant quantity of fuel is metered to the engine in line with the performance map.
The amount of fuel injected (injection time) is dependent on:
^ Coolant temperature
^ Charge air temperature
^ Charge air pressure
^ Engine speed
^ Engine load
^ Closed-loop mixture control
^ Correction programming with STAR DIAGNOSIS
