AH32.22-P-1000-01T Notes on air suspension
- except CODE (489) Airmatic (semi-active air suspension)
Component Identification:
^ When the system is depressurized the vehicle level drops significantly. In order to avoid vehicle damage limp-home buffers must be attached to the suspension before moving the vehicle.
^ Empty air springs (1) completely before removal. For this the system must be emptied via a command from the diagnostic equipment (STAR DIAGNOSIS) so that the intake air drier regenerates. The components or the entire system must not be discharged by unscrewing pressure lines!
^ Clean soiled pressure line connections before unscrewing. Do not use any cleaning or solvent agent, as this can damage the pressure lines. Seal pressure lines as well connections on the components immediately with blind plugs.
^ For unscrewing the pressure lines, only use flare nut wrench or special tool.
^ Air springs (1) which are removed or not bolted on securely (1) must not be filled with compressed-air and not be pushed together!
^ The folds of the protective boots of the air springs (1) must be correctly formed and must not exhibit any intrusions as the air spring bellows rub on it when driving and this leads to premature failure of the air springs (1).
^ Air springs (1) must not be twisted, as this can lead to wrinkle formation in the air spring bellows and therefore can lead to its destruction.
^ When filling the air suspensions (1) observe the filling process.
^ The air springs (1) must not be loaded between installing the air springs (1) and filling (no spring motion).
