AR68.30-P-4300-09T Prepare Headliner For Installing Speaker

Workshop Equipment:





Repair Materials:










1. Saw off cutting template (2) from old headliner (1).
Saw through old headliner (1) 5 cm in front of cutout for PTS warning display (3).

2. Saw recesses out of cutting template (2) along dotted line in area of retaining hooks (4).
3. Saw recesses out of cutting template (2) along dotted line in area of mount (5).
4. Remove speaker retaining frame (6) from cutting template (2).
5. Shim new headliner (1) with suitable spacers, e.g. foam rubber or Styrofoam blocks in area of cutouts (7) for speaker retaining frames (6).
Do not use hard or sharp-edged objects. Otherwise the headliner (1) cover can be damaged.
Installing shims below the spacers prevents the new headliner (1) from sagging and eliminates damage when performing the following steps.

6. Place cutting template (2) onto new headliner (1) and align.
7. Mark cutouts (7) for speaker retaining frames (6) on new headliner (1).
8. Remove cutting template (2) from new headliner (1).
9. Saw cutouts (7) for speaker retaining frames (6) out of headliner (1).
Use metal sawing blade, otherwise headliner (1) can be damaged.
Saw out within marked cutting line, otherwise the cutouts (7) for the speaker retaining frames (6) may be too large.







10. Glue speaker retaining frames (6) onto new headliner (1).
