GF82.15-P-0002T Headlamp Cleaning System (HCS), Function
GF82.15-P-0002T Headlamp Cleaning System (HCS), Function
- with CODE (600) Headlamp cleaning system
Function requirements:
^ C. 15R On
Manual actuation
The headlamp cleaning system (HCS) is switched on by pressing the HCS switch (S1s1).
As a result, the corresponding input of the driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1), which reads in the HCS [SRA switch (S1s1), is switched to ground.
The driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) switches circuit 30 through for an operating time of approx. 1 s to the HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2).
The resulting water pressure acts against the return springs in both telescopic nozzles.
The telescopic nozzles are extended, and in doing so they open the flaps in the bumper and spray washer fluid onto the headlamp lenses.
After the duty cycle has elapsed, the pressure in the washer fluid line drops again and the spring force acts on the nozzles moving them back into their starting position. The flaps in the bumper are closed by the spring action.
Pressing the HCS [SRA] switch (S1s1) again when a headlamp cleaning cycle is being performed has no effect.
A further headlamp cleaning cycle can only be initiated after the previous one has ended.
Automatic actuation (in vehicles as of 1.6.04)
After 15 actuations of the windshield washer system, the HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2) is automatically activated. This automatic control function is assumed by the driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
Function
With each actuation of the window washer fluid pump (M5/1), the internal counter in the driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) is incremented upwards by one until it reaches the value "15", then the HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2) is activated and the counter reset to "0".
The internal counter is always reset to "0" with circuit 15 Off.
