Squeaking / Grunting Noises from Front Axle Area During Suspension Jounce Movements
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of a squeaking / grunting noise from the front axle area during suspension jounce movements, perform the following to resolve.
Note:
When the suspension is compressed to a sufficient extent at the front axle area, the front struts stop buffer(s) may deform which can cause frictional noises between the strut's piston rod and stop buffer (Figure 1).
1. Raise vehicle on a lift.
2. Pull the affected strut's stop buffer and boot downwards.
3. Lightly grease piston rod with lubricant.
4. Push stop buffer and boot back into the original position.
5. Lower vehicle.
Note:
The noise can be reproduced by rocking the vehicle at the front axle.
