Knocking / Thumping Noises from the Front Axle Area

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of a knocking / thumping noise in the area of the front axle, perform the following:

Note:
The torsion bar linkage by itself cannot produce noises as there is no integral ball joint that can suffer wear. The cause of the noise must therefore be in other components.

1. In order to rule out the possibility of noises from the threaded connections of the torsion bar linkage, re-torque the threaded connections to 130 Nm. Refer to WIS documents AR32.20-P-0300T and AR32.20-P-0310M.

2. For other possible causes and remedies for noises from the area of the front axle, review DTBs in design groups 32 and 33.
